Only One Thing Really Matters

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? –Matthew 16:26.

                There really isn’t anything noble in “keeping busy” all of the time. Satan has given us a world of constant diversions, which are meant to keep our attention from the only thing that really matters; the ETERNAL destiny of our soul and spirit. Eternity will never end, yet our physical lives are but as wisps of smoke. What really matters to you? After you die, it will be too late to amend the choices you’ve made. Please don’t wait, simply hoping that things will turn out all right with God! He has made a sure way for you to be saved right now, through Jesus Christ, His Son.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. –Romans 10:13.

If you are reading this as a Christian, take time to be sure that the cares of this world aren’t choking out the fruit God wants you to bring forth (Mark 4:19). Don’t let the devil deceive you!

IF ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. –Colossians 3:1-3.

                How important should your relationship with God be?

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it. –Matthew 13:44-46.

                Even seemingly more “noble” purposes ought to be prioritized as lesser than the spiritual;

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. –Matthew 6:31-33.

Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. –Luke 10:38-42.

                A short while ago, my wife saw a brief article about a man that had just retired, and was apparently celebrating with a vacation in Hawaii; he was killed by a shark. I sure hope he had taken care of what really mattered before going into the water that day; we just don’t know when our time is up.

                Please take time to seek the Lord; repent of your sins, and claim Jesus Christ as your savior and Lord. Find out what God wants for you, and let Him show you what really matters, and will last eternally.

And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. -Luke 12:16-21. Bold type added to emphasize.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: –Hebrews 9:27.
